"I'm going to be very hard on you"

... those were the words of my advisor this morning, after explaining to me that he has high hopes in me. He was disappointed that I had not finished the written portion of my preliminary exam a month of two in advance so that my colleagues could review it. I understand and appreciate his concern. Let him be hard on me; that'll make two of us!
